I was helped by two of my brilliant colleagues: - @biktorrr noticed that from Figure 2 in the standard it can be deduced that the intended directionality is [2]. - @raadjoe notices that the same directionality can be determined from [this paper](http://eprints.hud.ac.uk/id/eprint/28854/1/swj_temporal-revised.pdf). I hope this issue can still be of some help to others who have the same question in the future.
