@rjksmith The OGC API - EDR standardises the representation of 2/3/4D trajectories, using WKT, with the same conceptual model as OGC Moving Features, though different encodings. the Moving Features suite of standards have distance and speed/velocity as first class citizens.
So maybe worth a look if you are not familiar with them.
