Christine Perey from the OGC GeoPose working group has drawn my attention to the W3C Devices and Sensors Working Group https://www.w3.org/das/roadmap. Of particular interest to us would probably be their Generic Sensors API https://www.w3.org/TR/generic-sensor/ (and probably even more to the STA team).

I wonder if Alex/Hylke/Kathi could take a look to check if there is anything we can learn, or any inconsistencies?

You will see that I've already initiated contact through their mailing list.
