Hi Catherine - Yes, I’ve been nagging the QUDT people for years about getting the vocabularies available as linked data. It has been really frustrating. TQ and NASA appear to have been obsessed with QC, which kinda misses one of the key ideas from TimBL’ s Linked Open Data manifesto: “raw data now”. These (units) are fundamental concepts and it would be really helpful to the community for us to be able to fall in behind a single set of URIs. The representations can be progressively improved over time. I’m slightly hopeful that the UNF project will put a bit more effort and energy into this. I have some classes name errorX... And the URI are not published as LOD If I put the URL http://qudt.org/2.0/schema/qudt in web browser I have an error 404 so I will not be able to use this version of unit ontology. The good news I like the skos vocabulary that define weather property http://vocab.nerc.ac.uk/collection/P07/current/ we will use it and link it directly to our data without created a new ontology. Let see if it generate error due to sosa constraints. This type of vocabulary provide the reference ID (URI) that is usefull to query and retrieve dataset . The trouble is that it defined only property and no feature of interest. So we have two possibilities : 1) this type of property is sufficient to identify the feature of interest for a human. So we supress all mention of feature of interest (like wind or precipitation) 2) find another wovabulary that provide generic URI to identify feature of interest like the SWEET ontology. But maybe for a expert SWEET is not precise enought there is a real gap between the vocabulary of vocab.nerc.ac.uk and SWEET. For the moment we will choose the simplest way: solution 1. It means that our description will be really plain and simple compare to our previous dataset based on SSN and Laurent Lefort works. we have still some problem about unit. Which dataset that store different unit are uptodate? could we reuse the unit ontology of ssn? They pointed out that the CF vocabulary is updated regularly – the version you have used is quite old. This SKOS representation is always current http://vocab.nerc.ac.uk/collection/P07/current/ but you’d need to re-apply Jonathan Gregory’s rules to get to the same place.
