Re: Definition and Explanation of WG Deliverables

Hi Ed,
Thanks for clarifying this. The fact that this concise response is on the public list is excellent.
Thanks, have a great weekend.

Subject: Re: Definition and Explanation of WG Deliverables

Hi Lewis,

Very fair question, in the charter<http://www.w3.org/2015/spatial/charter> we have committed to produce the following documents,

1. Use Cases and Requirements (Note)
2. Spatial Data on the Web Best Practices (Note)

and then work on the following technology standards if they are proved relevant from (1 & 2)

3. Time Ontology in OWL (Recommendation)
4. Semantic Sensor Network Vocabulary (Recommendation)
5. Coverage in Linked Data (Recommendation)

The key work and that with the biggest potential impact is the Best Practices Document which will not have the status of a standard but may indicate relevant standards that already exist or where there are gaps.

Ed

Hi WG,
I was in discussion with one of my senior colleagues and he was slightly confused (and now so am I) regarding the WG Deliverables [0].
It would seem to me that two are standards-based documents e.g. Use Cases and Requirements, and Spatial Data on the Web Best Practices.
There are then two technology/markup related items e.g. OWL Time Ontology, and Semantic Sensor Network Ontology.
Finally, the Coverage in Linked Data seems to be bolted on to the end with no real obvious relevance within the purpose of a WG deliverable.
I am new to the Group so please excuse my lack of context. Can someone please provide some?
Thank you
Lewis
