Dear Joshua, I believe what you're writing below is exactly what the issue https://github.com/schemaorg/schemaorg/issues/113 is about. My feeling is that the schema.org is eager to adopt (and reference) a way of encoding bbox and does not intent to reinvent the wheel but would welcome contributions.
