If you want to make a counter proposal I think we'll need more details than
that.

Simply returning a mutable array seems to generate very surprising results for
use cases A, B and D (depending on what solution we go with for D).

I have also heard that Object.freeze is not particularly popular. But it's the
closest thing that we have to immutable Arrays.
