I would rather see time spent on more use cases and data available itself.

For Places, we already have LandmarksOrHistoricalBuildings and now also
have TouristAttraction (which can use touristType: "History Buff", "History
Aficionado")

For Events, we already have many properties available to deem give it some
not of being historical, like dates, about, audience, additionalType, etc.

For Everything else, we have many ways to deem something historically
important, mostly importantly, about.category, subjectOf

Do you require help for the "Everything else" scenarios ?  Do you have some
examples of particular entities you have in some collection you are working
with that you can share with us, so that we can help you with "structure"
using Schema.org ?
