Yes you are right - my 'everything is data' head is getting in the way.
Although it is a Boolean construct, because of the the way microdata is
normally applied we use messy strings.

Although this is also syntactically correct:
    <span itemprop="abridged" value="false">UNABRRIDGED</span>
