Just a willingness to learn, and a motivation to create something. The web was made by scratching an itch. Find the intersection of something that gets you out of bed in the morning, and something that you think could be ubiquitous in the long term. Hopefully something that is open source and royalty free so that it help not only you, but your friends, and others that want to use it. There is a rich surface for innovation right now.
