There are quite a few decentralized social networks on the scene these days. Yet ineroperability between different nets still seems to be a challenge. Many or most use a specific protocol to interop with similar nodes, but unless you adopt that particular structure, and identification system, it can be tricky to get projects working together, which leads to fragmentation. I think the way forward is for more and more projects to realize, what can be done with exsisting HTTP and build to that paradigm, using web standards. As such the new "Tent" Project seems not too bad, using HTTP GET, POST, PUT & PATCH with JSON http://tent.io/docs Will be interesting to see if this one gains traction or if it can interop with some of the social nets we have working on the RWW.
