Most of the issues mentioned on that page are issues with the Abstract
Syntax, not the Abstract-to-XML mapping.  (They do manifest in the XML
syntax, as do the naming conventions, but they're fairly separable.)

I've move the old XML Syntax page off to the side:

and started a new one:

which is still skeletal as I write this, but I'll *try* to fill it in
with examples and pro/con arguments soon.  Even as it is, I think it's a
better structure for this discussion than my earlier e-mail referenced
above.
