Dear All, I am back to action after holidays. I have updated the Prova language questionnaire with details regarding the rich event processing functionality in Prova. I feel that part of the questionnaire was well constructed and allowed me to adequately characterize various aspects of the language. It is important to also read the comments as the Yes/No or 1/2/3/4 options sometimes are too terse to get the correct impression of the available or required features. I give brief rationale behind the availability of the features and some details on the particular options. In general, Prova supports two styles of ECA rules: style A message-driven reaction rules that allow one to construct complex workflows (as rich as BPEL or Petri-nets) using reaction rules and more traditional style B ECA rules where event calculus can be used for detecting events. There are two areas where the Prova language has been moving ahead and they are currently not that well represented. The first concerns the OWL integration in Prova where variables can be typed using a type theory based unification using RDFS/OWL ontologies. We are not sure how to categorize this. The other important part unique to Prova is test-driven development system similar to (and in the Java case, integrated with) JUnit as well as an integrity constraints testing including testing of hypothetical updates. We have received multiple requirements from the industry regarding these features. Regards, Alex Kozlenkov W3C Representative for Betfair Advanced Technology Group Office: +44 20 8834 6854 Yahoo!
