[Alternate, but Principal for F2F, I think] [Attending F2F] Here is my introduction for those working group members who don't know me. Those who do know me are free to make their own judgements, of course. I am a visiting professor at the University of Bozen-Bolzano and a Member of Technical Staff at Bell Labs Research. I have worked for various incarnations of Bell Labs for over 15 years. My research centers on practical aspects of formal knowledge representation. I have spent much of the last five years fighting for truth and beauty in the Semantic Web. I helped develop DAML+OIL; I have pointed out and fixed numerous problems with RDF; I designed the abstract syntax and semantics for OWL; I designed SWRL and SWRL FOL; I have pointed out problems with the orthodox vision of the Semantic Web; I developed an alternative vision for the Semantic Web. I expect to continue my fight for truth and beauty in this working group. I expect to continue my string of Cassandra-like warnings concerning the unintended consequences of technical decisions. I hope that some of them are heeded. I hope that the working group comes up with a rule language that fits into a rational vision of the Semantic Web. My contact information is splattered over the Web, with the result that I get a lot of spam. There is thus not much harm in letting the working group know that my email at the University of Bozen-Bolzano is pfps@inf.unibz.it. Peter F. Patel-Schneider Visiting Professor, University of Bozen-Bolzano Member of Technical Staff, Bell Labs Research
