Hello, W3C Advisory Committee Representatives received a proposal to republish the following W3C Recommendation as an Obsolete Recommendation: Vibration API (Second Edition) W3C Recommendation 18 October 2016 https://www.w3.org/TR/2016/REC-vibration-20161018/ The following text is proposed to be added to the Status of This Document: [[ This specification is obsolete and should no longer be used as a basis for implementation. The Vibration API specification became W3C Recommendation in 2016. This was designed to provide access to the vibration mechanism of the hosting device, where vibration is a form of tactile feedback. Since 2016, implementations of the Vibration API have been reduced. WebKit removed its implementation on 2017-05-11, and Firefox implementation has been broken (at least) from 2020 and disabled totally at 2024-06-12. For purposes of the W3C Patent Policy this Obsolete Recommendation has the same status as an active Recommendation; it retains licensing commitments and remains available as a reference for old implementations but is no longer recommended for future implementation. ]] W3C wishes to communicate clearly the status of Vibration API (Second Edition) to the Web community. As part of ensuring that the community is aware of this proposal, W3C invites public comments through 03:59 UTC on 9 October 2024 (23:59 Boston time on 8 October) [0]. Please send comments to public-review-comments@w3.org, which has a public archive: https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-review-comments/ If you work for a W3C Member <https://www.w3.org/membership/list/>, please coordinate your comments with your Advisory Committee Representative.
