Status of CSS image-set()

Does anyone know the current status of CSS image-set()? In particular:

   - Has the spec stabilized? Or are there still changes to the
   syntax?[1][2]
   - Anyone know what browser support looks like? Caniuse doesn't track
   it.[3]
   - Assuming it isn't in browsers, any public signals? Roadmaps? I can't
   find it in any of the status trackers[4]

Anyone know what's going on with image-set()?

Thanks,

Jason

[2] Peter Linss gently chided me for advocating for its use too early back
in 2012.
