Introduction: Gregory Todd Williams

Role: Principle representative for RPI

I am a current Ph.D. student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI)
under Jim Hendler. I'm focusing primarily on techniques and uses of
SPARQL in distributed environments, and am thus keenly interested in
the direction of SPARQL development. I am also the author of the
RDF::Query[1] perl implementation of SPARQL. I wasn't directly
involved in the previous DAWG work, but was following its progress
toward the end as a way of keeping my SPARQL implementation aligned
with the standard.

In general, email is the best way to contact me (greg@evilfunhouse.com
-- I have an RPI address, but the institutional spam filters are a bit
over-eager and unreliable). I also frequently am online on the #swig
and #foaf IRC channels on freenode (nick: kasei).

I'm hoping being part of the WG will allow me both to contribute my
thoughts and preferences as an implementor, and communicate the
group's progress with the group here at RPI (and bring any feedback
from the group here back to the WG). I'm particularly interested in
seeing the formalization of many of the existing extensions to SPARQL
(aggregates and updates), as well as the development of a service
description mechanism.

best,
.greg
