Pull Requests 178 & 175, and the Explainer Doc

Hi all,

Markus, Pierre-Antoine and I met this morning. We agreed that we probably won't need any WG calls for the remainder of the month but this is only true if we can carry out some actions for which WG consensus is sought.

First of all, Gregg has written a Pull Request to address the issue of alternative hashes raised originally by Sebastian. Several people have commented and it looks ready to go at https://github.com/w3c/rdf-canon/pull/178. My reading of the proposed changes is that it reflects well the discussion we had on last week's call.

@Seabass - please can you review the PR. Based on last week's conversation I hope this addresses the issue that you raised? If so, please can you indicate this and, in the absence of any further comment from anyone, the editors can merge the PR which should close Issue 176 (https://github.com/w3c/rdf-canon/issues/176)

Irrespective of that, as per the resolution taken last week (https://www.w3.org/2023/09/27-rch-minutes.html#ResolutionSummary), @Pierre-Antoine is going to open the transition request to CR.

The other open PR on the main document is one concerning the use cases. I created a trivial PR that says "please see the explainer doc" for more. See https://github.com/w3c/rdf-canon/pull/175 which fixes issue 110. In order for this to work we need to publish the explainer doc which we didn't get to at the end of last week's call. Therefore I have opened an issue in its repo https://github.com/w3c/rch-explainer/issues/9 and invite everyone to indicate support or otherwise for this doc to be published as a WG Note.

Once that's published, we can update the main document with the link to it.

This all seems fairly straightforward and is *IF* everyone's happy with it. Of course, you're welcome to raise a hand if needs be but otherwise we do seem to be on the home straight.

Thanks

Phil
