Although I do feel like the definition here: "Each node has a unique identity. Every node in an instance of the data model is unique: identical to itself, and not identical to any other node." is cyclic and informal ("itself", "identical" and "other" kind of recursively rely on the very term "identity" being defined here). But it feels like it's the "is" operator that is implicitly hidden in this sentence so I am fine with it.
