It might look more natural to users that are already used to AVTs, it seems like a smaller change to apply and it doesn't change the schema. The downside is: how to tell the difference between a static AVT and a non-static one. But since currently there is no visual difference between a static and non-static attribute when no AVT is applied, this may be less a problem than it looks.
