Yes.

In section "3.4.3" is says:
> When "default" is used in place of a FTThesaurusID, the thesauri 
> specified in the static context are used, which are either givenby the  
> prolog declaration for the thesaurus option, or, if nosuch declaration  
> exists a system-defined default thesauruswith a system-defined  
> relationship.

Since query #1 had a thesaurus prolog option, the "which are either
given by the prolog declaration for the thesaurus option" applies
and it says that the default to use is "no thesaurus".  Query #2
says directly "no thesaurus".
