Summary: [Ser] xml version of xml islands
Product: XPath / XQuery / XSLT
Version: Candidate Recommendation
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: Serialization
AssignedTo: joannet@ca.ibm.com
ReportedBy: joannet@ca.ibm.com
QAContact: public-qt-comments@w3.org
Since there is no mechanism for setting the XML version of an XML island, and
the current text says pieces of XML inside HTML must be output as XML with
additional rules that namespace nodes and namespace-prefixed QNames should
follow the rules of XML 1.0, it's not clear why undeclaring prefixes is
permissible for XML islands.
Suggested resolution: modify section 7.4.7 (HTML Output Method: the undeclare-
prefixes Parameter) where it should say the undeclare-prefixes parameter is
not applicable to the HTML output method with no exception.
