After going around the mulberry bush with the so-called mapping operator, I strongly support this proposal (for what it's worth... being of the same company as the Proposer, but in a different WG). It provides a clean solution to issues raised during the http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/w3c-xsl-query/2003Apr/thread.html#62 discussion, and it allows a way to return a sequence of values from nodes in simple circumstances that is much more in the spirit of the XPath expression language than using "for" expressions. -scott
