When the conformance section is written, implementations should be able to claim conformance to the Infoset and PSVI mappings specified in the data model. Obviously, implementations still need to be able to create instances of the Data Model however they wish - implementations that do not use the Infoset or PSVI mappings would be conformant with XQuery, XPath, and XSLT, but would not conform to these two normative Data Model mappings. Implementations that do conform to these mappings would have a higher degree of interoperability. Jonathan
