Greg, We are aware of the Z39.50 initiatives. I am a member of the XQuery and XPath Full-Text Task Force and I work at the Library of Congress which is the maintenance agency for Z39.50, so I have contributors to ZING advising me on Task Force issues. We will mine the current versions of the documents you mentioned for innovative ideas. Thanks for your interest in XQuery and XPath Full-Text! Pat Case, Library of Congress >>> "Greg Holmberg" <gholmber@inxight.com> 8/16/2004 4:20:22 PM >>> XQuery full-text editors- I've just found the XQueryFT pages, which I think could be very useful to us at Inxight Software. Our system does deep linguistic analysis of text, which can then be queried, so we are looking for a rich query language for our system. I have also found a few other full-text query languages: NISO Z39.50 http://www.niso.org/standards/standard_detail.cfm?std_id=465 http://www.loc.gov/z3950/agency ZING: Z39.50 Next Generation http://www.loc.gov/z3950/agency/zing Java Content Repository API (see Simple Search Engine Syntax): http://jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=170 ZING especially has some innovative ideas for a query language. Are you in contact with these folks? It would sure be nice to see some of the great ideas in XQueryFT make their way into these other standards, or vice-versa.
