WD-xquery-20040723 XQuery Working Draft, section 3.2.1.2 The examples were not updated to match the change in syntax. The TypeName no longer has a wildcard option. * element(person, *) matches any element node whose name is person (or is in the substitution group headed by person), without any restriction on type annotation. ..... * attribute(price, *) matches any attribute whose name is price, regardless of its type annotation. best regards Margaret Grün-Kerr ...
