It's not for all w3 servers, though, only the one where the link checker resides. It looks like the link checker sees that validator.w3.org = localhost, and thus refuses to check links there unless its configuration allows checking private IPs. Would you add your test case and bug report to bugzilla? http://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/ -- olivier
