[meeting] Notes and log, 2005-07-04

* EARL

Jim, the editor of the EARL requirements document about to be published,
was present, so we rapidly checked whether, when and how the qa-dev
group should check the EARL documents. At the moment it is perhaps too
early to modify our usage of earl in our tools, but keeping an eye on
the documents will be a good idea.

* Markup Validator's beta test

We will start a beta test of the markup validator 0.7.0 in the days to
come. Agreement that we will need to find the right balance between
getting the highest possible number of people to test the beta version
(since there are quite a few changes in the code), while keeping the
hyper level low (since there are not a lot of new user features).

Going through the remaining issues with 0.7.0 target, and checking
ACTIONs that will lead to the beta:

[DONE] ACTION scop to upload an updated, 0.7.0-friendly Bundle to Pause
[DONE] ACTION scop to check mkrelease for 0.7.0-friendliness
 [NEW] ACTION yod to (subsequently) create tarballs of 0.7.0 validator
       and sgml-lib
 [NEW] ACTION yod to prepare 0.7.0 beta announcement, find balance
       between getting wide testing but no excessive hype
 [NEW] ACTION bjoern_ ask David Tibbe about Win/IIS installation guide in
      english

* SELinux and validator RPMs in fedora core

Discussion on how we could provide RPMs while being compatible with
SELinux default policies, or provide policy modules.

 [NEW] Action scop to do more research on SELinux targeted policies for
the markup validator packages

* "Valid" badges and SVG

The group acks Ian Jacobs' message:
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-qa-dev/2005Jun/0024
but may need more time to fully answer.
Checking existing trademark policies for open-source projects, e.g in
Fedora Core.
It was noted that the current formulated proposal does not yet cover the
issue of localizing the text/description in the SVG badges, something
that may be done in the future.

Meeting adjourned after 01:30
Next proposed date: August 1st, 2005, 16:00 UTC

Slightly trimmed/edited log attached.
