[meeting] Notes and log 2004-09-14

Thanks a lot for joining the meeting yesterday, much appreciated given
how it was difficult for some of you.

Here is, as usual, a quick summary of the topics discussed, along with
a trimmed IRC log.

Topics:

  * SGML::OpenSP::Perl (aka spo) *

Discussing building this package (and the issues surrounding the CVS
openSP, which it depends on). Nick agreed to buid spo on the qa-dev
test server.

  * Planning 0.7.0 *

We have been lacking a clear plan for the next release. The main point
of disagreement is the volume of bugs we can fix/code we can clean up
for 0.7.0 as opposed to postponing the work when we do m12n. General
agreement that this is not a clean "either/or" case, and that we can
decide from the list[1] which bugs can (and should) be addressed now vs
later. Nick and Ville, especially, are invited to give their opinion.

* m12n / testing *

Not discussed much, but everyone invited to fu2 threads on the list.

* Checklink, delay and timeout *

Started discussing current issues with development, based on prototype
Ville sent recently. Ville to work with Bjoern on CSS::SAC issues, as
Bjoern is this package's maintainer. Ville should send to either list
or wiki (and/or bugzilla...) a list of feedback wanted and known
issues.

Also discussed was "speed" issue with the new implementation of
checklink on top of RobotUA:
  - it cannot sleep() less than one second, that makes it "slow"
compared to the previous (bullish and problematic) versions
  - in non verbose mode, the lack of output for a very long time causes
some browser to timeout.

The latter (only) was acknowledged as an issue and will be worked on,
the former has neither obvious solution (see log for thoughts on the
matter) nor is it formally accepted as an issue.

Summary of Action Items:
Nick to build openSP from CVS and SPO in /usr/local on qa-dev
Ville to send list of issues/needed feedback on dev checklink
olivier to add "checklink timeout" to bugzilla
