Re: Let's introduce ourselves

Hi folks,

It is always useful to give basic info about our interest for a CG, Zheng had a wonderful idea.

I'm Laurent Le Meur, director of EDRLab and current president of the Readium Foundation. I'm located near Paris.

EDRLab is member of the W3C and participates (as much as possible) to the EPUB 3 WG and Publishing CG. I'm the editor of the LPF format, the packaging companion of the W3C Audiobooks format.

EDRLab is a development lab and an association (65 members, publishers, e-distributors, libraries, booksellers, reading system developers, a11y specialists).

Our current developments are mainly:
- A free & open-source + accessible + multi-lingual + multi-format desktop reading app = Thorium Reader
- An open-source reading toolkit = Readium Mobile / Desktop
- A vendor-neutral ebook DRM = LCP
- Software for accessing collections of audiobooks from smart speakers = Lis mon Livre
- The incubation of an optimized format for Comics/Manga/BD/Webtoon = Divina
- The standardized display of a11y metadata of booksellers websites, in a French context as a starter.
- A standardized way of reserving TDM rights for publishers of online content = TDMRep

And we have also a raising interest for techniques allowing a cheap transformation of an EPUB 2 backlist to properly accessible EPUB 3, and for the evolution of digital textbooks toward inclusivity (-> accessibilty).

All topics of interest here.

Best regards
Laurent
