VS: Let's introduce ourselves

Hello!

I’m a bit late to the party as usual. It’s been interesting to read the introductions, so I’ll chip in as well.

My name is Miia Kirsi (she/her), I work at Celia Library for persons with print disabilities in Helsinki, Finland. At the moment me and two of my colleagues are mostly pondering on how we could facilitate the local publishers’ shift towards accessible publishing, with the European Accessibility Act coming soon. We collaborate with Finnish Publishers’ Association as well as with many individual publishers. And of course with our Nordic colleagues such as HBS in Iceland (I saw Gunnar introducing himself earlier).

Finland is a small market and our publishers are equally small, so they often don’t have resources and/or interest to participate in international groups, not to mention in the standards or tools development. I try to participate at least all accessibility task force calls and if I have time, I also lurk around at PCG meetings to try and absorb as much information as I can 😊

Hi folks

Some of you might have noticed that I started to ask new joined members to introduce themselves shortly.

Actually I think maybe it's also a good time to introduce ourselves to new members and each other as well since the CG started to be active during covid and I think a lot of us did not know each other and might have missed some of the PCG meetings (which is totally fine).

Ok, I will run a quick introduction of myself.

My name is Zheng Xu. I am located in Ottawa (Canada) and founder of Gardenia Corp (a digital reading system firm).
I joined PCG because I hope I could help with prototyping new reading experiences, test new concepts and most importantly - make them into a real product or spec to benefit digital book readers.
