This is, obviously, very important for our community. I wonder whether it is worth inviting the potential co-chair of the WG to, say, a BG call to see if what they want to do is in line with the publishing community's needs… (They did a presentation at TPAC, b.t.w.) The first version, MathML1, became a W3C Recommendation in 1998; the current version, MathML3 2nd edition, was published in 2014. The proposed WG will develop "MathML Core" and "MathML4", starting from reports produced by the MathML Refresh Community Group. MathML Core is a minimal subset that can be easily implemented and tested, especially as part of HTML, and that works well with CSS. MathML4 includes MathML Core and extends and revises MathML3. > > We welcome your general expressions of interest and support, as well as substantive comments, on <w3c-ac-forum@w3.org>, which has a Member archive [2]. > > If you wish to make your comments public, please raise issues in GitHub on <https://github.com/w3c/charter-drafts>. > > If you should have any questions or need further information, please feel free to contact Bert Bos <bert@w3.org>. > > A formal Advisory Committee Review for this charter is expected in December 2020. > > This announcement follows section 5.2.2 of the Process Document > https://www.w3.org/2020/Process-20200915/#WGCharterDevelopment > > For Tim Berners-Lee, Director, > Wendy Seltzer, W3C Strategy Lead; > Xueyuan Jia, W3C Marketing & Communications > > [1] https://w3c.github.io/charter-drafts/math-2020.html > [2] http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/w3c-ac-forum/ > > ---- Ivan Herman, W3C Home: http://www.w3.org/People/Ivan/ mobile: +33 6 52 46 00 43 ORCID ID: https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0782-2704
