RE: SC meeting (Pub Summit update)

The Pub Summit Program Committee is up and running (thanks BillK and all who are participating) so I don’t think we want to duplicate any of that discussion in today’s SC call.

But there may be some things SC has thoughts about re: the event that are not related to the program itself. Again since this will be the biggest manifestation of Publishing@W3C in 2017 that is not spec development it is something I think this group should be thoughtful about to maximize the opportunity to “spread our wings”. Main wiki page remains https://www.w3.org/Member/wiki/PubSummit (PC is now working on program via Google Docs).

One specific point is the web page for the event. Rick has offered possible help from Ingram on ID/branding for the event (thanks!) which it seems we are now all agreed to call the “W3C Publishing Summit”. I would neverthless like to use the already developed Publishing@W3C logo in conjunction with the info (as per https://www.w3.org/publishing/ although that was a make-do page that is being re-done soon), and not sure we also need a new logo just for the event. I am also inclined to adapt a web site design from the last time W3C did a “special event” – that site is here: http://w3.org/20 – that is the post-event manifestation of that site. But it’s a lot nicer looking (IMO) than standard W3C pages such as https://www.w3.org/2017/11/TPAC/ and closer to being a “microsite”. But I defer to others as I’m at best a dabbler at website development and not even a dabbler when it comes to marcomm. We don’t have much time since we need to have the event initial announcement on June 14 so it would be a nice shortcut if we could reuse this site and the logo we already have. George, an a11y check on http://w3.org/20 would be helpful but I’m guessing that W3C already checked that the first time around. It does seem to be pretty mobile friendly.

We are on for the meeting tomorrow, usual time (noon eastern).

No agenda set (returning from the holiday), but I’ll send out the items that were remaining from the last meeting when I get up in the morning.

I have no doubt we will fill the time!
