Dear all, I’ve just arrived home… The F2F meeting was very interesting and I am very happy to be able to participate in person as lots of technical details were probably quite difficult to follow remotely. I believe the work done in the working group is very good and I think it put the basis for the technical work that need to be done, on another side, as anticipated at the end of the meeting to Rick, I am wondering how we as Business Group can translate what emerged from the working group to a higher strategic and business oriented level. As you all know I am not a very techie person, even if I understand the overall concepts, and I am thinking which can be the best and more fruitful way to provide to our members, especially the CEO or the Editorial staff people, an overview of the implication of what discussed at business and editorial level and how I can convince them to be part of the discussion. I think it is very crucial for us to be able to provide clear benefits and opportunities offered in terms of new products and services to be implemented with the new specs or to gather more information on what is needed in specific market segments, where I believe there are very different future scenarios. Regarding this point, I suggest we collect more information on how and with which rationale the transition from EPUB 2 to EPUB3 has been (or not) carried out, because I am sure we may learn a lot on the reasons of the adoption (or not) of the spec. I spoke about it with Laurent and, if you think it may be of interest, we can evaluate the possibility of making a survey in collaboration with EDRLab and some EU Publishers Association to better understand for example how widely are EPUB2 and 3 adopted, for which kind of titles, which are the production processes in place and which are the reasons of the different choices. We may than present the results during the W3C Publishing Summit. Thank you very much and see you soon Cristina [cid:imagefa4a46.JPG@dc2305a6.46b90aed]<http://fondazionelia.org/sostienici/dona> ________________________________ ASSOCIAZIONE ITALIANA EDITORI - C.so di Porta Romana 108 - 20122 MILANO - Tel. 0289280800 - Fax 0289280860 Uffici di Roma - Via Crescenzio 19 - 00193 Roma - Tel. 0695222100 - Fax 0695222101 Sito Internet: www.aie.it<http://www.aie.it/> - Posta elettronica certificata: aie-pec@pec.aie.it<mailto:aie-pec@pec.aie.it> ________________________________ Confidentiality Notice Il presente messaggio, e ogni eventuale documento a questo allegato, potrebbe contenere informazioni da considerarsi strettamente riservate ad esclusivo utilizzo del destinatario in indirizzo, il quale e' l'unico autorizzato ad usarlo, copiarlo e, sotto la propria responsabilita', diffonderlo. On the 27th I will be travelling to Le Hague to attend the Better Together Conference so I cannot participate but I believe we need to confirm the resolution of the task force regarding the update of the ISO TS. I would prefer that we plan for at least one meeting each month for each group. Just my 2 cents. I’d like to propose the following, and would love to have some feedback: June 27 – steering committee meeting – cancelled, with the option for Christina to use the time for a larger business group meeting to discuss, and close, any open ISO issues July 4 – full publishing group meeting – cancelled for the US holiday July 11 – steering committee meeting – cancelled for the summer hiatus July 18 – full publishing group meeting – cancelled for the summer hiatus July 25 – steering committee meetings resume August 1 – full publishing group meetings resume Thoughts?
