I like the direction this is going but I am not sure the dm construct name wasStartedBy works well with the change.

What about simplifying it to hadStart?

As for the overloading of wasStartedBy

1) My suggestion to simplify wasStartedBy to hadStart for proposal 2 would remove this overload
2) OPM has wasTriggeredBy.  This makes the term and its usage familiar to the community, why not use that for activities starting other activities?
