The launch of the Privacy & Sustainable Computing Lab in Vienna (29th and 30th of September at WU) is a core event for the data protection community as well as those interested in ethical IT design and policy making in general, where we will discuss issues around privacy and more ethical design of technology in general. We have managed to put to put together an exciting programme where major global standardization bodies come together, including representatives of efforts within IEEE, IETF, ISO, and W3C who will discuss how to put data protection and ethics into technical standards. Their presentations and discussion panels will be motivated by the effort of activists as well as internationally reknown researchers who also speak at the event. Overall the set of confirmed distinguished speakers and panelists includes (in alphabetic order): * Phil Archer (W3C) * Prof. Piero Bonatti (Univ. Napels) * Max Schreis (activist) * Wolfie Christl (activist) * Anna Fielder (Privacy International) * John Havens (IEEE) * Prof. Udo Helmrecht (ENISA) * Andreas Krisch (EDRI) * Dr. Rainer Knyrim (Privacy Lawyer) * Prof. Kai Rannenberg (Goethe Univ. Frankfurt, ISO/IEC) * Prof. A Min Tjoa (TU Vienna/SBA Research) * Rigo Wenning (W3C/ERCIM) * Robin Wilton (ISOC) Please see our event web page for additional details: http://www.privacylab.at/events/launch/ Due to limited space we kindly ask you to register (free of charge) for the event, the registration link is also available at the event Web page.
