> I fail to see the benefit in introducing a tear-off/namespace object here. Why can't this stay flat? The PEWG came to a consensus that there should be a common structure that houses device-specific properties such as uniqueId. There are [other proposals](https://github.com/darktears/pen-customizations) submitted that would add more pen/device-specific properties so this avoids adding these optional members to the base level. [Here](https://github.com/w3c/pointerevents/issues/353#issuecomment-1922159406) is some more context behind the change. -- GitHub Notification of comment by sahirv Please view or discuss this issue at https://github.com/w3c/pointerevents/pull/495#issuecomment-2102888484 using your GitHub account -- Sent via github-notify-ml as configured in https://github.com/w3c/github-notify-ml-config
