Subject: [EXTERNAL] [PNG] Third Edition is released!
Congratulations, everyone!
PNG Third Edition is now a W3C Recommendation<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.w3.org/TR/png-3/__;!!PIZeeW5wscynRQ!p5KZJT44RAzEsL4gzPyHjo7rk8YzcHjlAERUxgLRLhRiThAvAADksd2xcFeZ8t3oqV8ZzEmvyxVGnjrkJ3Bf$>.
I appreciate all your hard work on it. It took a lot to dust off a 20-year-old spec and drum up enough interest across various industries to make this happen. Without your expertise and effort, I don't think it would have happened. I'm glad we accomplished this.
I wrote a post to announce PNG Third Edition's updates<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.programmax.net/articles/png-is-back/__;!!PIZeeW5wscynRQ!p5KZJT44RAzEsL4gzPyHjo7rk8YzcHjlAERUxgLRLhRiThAvAADksd2xcFeZ8t3oqV8ZzEmvyxVGnppmfA_n$>. Feel free to link it to others if you want. I designed it to be very accessible, so an average person could understand it. As such, I took some liberties like showing HDR primaries without explaining wide color gamut and transfer functions.
For a more technical article & audience, Chris Lilley wrote an excellent post on the cICP chunk<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/svgees.us/blog/cICP.html__;!!PIZeeW5wscynRQ!p5KZJT44RAzEsL4gzPyHjo7rk8YzcHjlAERUxgLRLhRiThAvAADksd2xcFeZ8t3oqV8ZzEmvyxVGnnV7QuXq$>.
Thank you, and congratulations.
