Re: [EXTERNAL] Re: [PNG] Cancel upcoming meeting?

Hi All,

The paywall should not be a barrier I think. The ISO document only describes the Diffuse White Metadata Element (Section 4.6.5) but doesn’t create an exact standard for it’s representation in images or movies.

We have an effort to do that for video in ST 2094-50 which I hope will start up soon with some help from a few other proponents. That may be useful because it won’t have a “paywall”.

Best,
Chris

Good to know, but that paywall is still a barrier to widespread implementation.

I saw a comment just yesterday [1] that said "Since the official specification is not freely available, reverse engineering or referencing Apple's publicly documented approach (Apple HDR<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/developer.apple.com/documentation/appkit/applying-apple-hdr-effect-to-your-photos__;!!PIZeeW5wscynRQ!q3w1UErsbYatmESDywGDi-PQSk20MP_WjS4JiF6XkY9gTXmEASUydWushefNIBZl6bm56nd2LU7iqg$>) may be necessary." The paywall is only if you want access now. Once we have the liaison set up, we should be able to share relevant ISO TC/42 WG 18 specs in confidence with W3C members to help with development of PNG.
