Good to know, but that paywall is still a barrier to widespread
implementation.
I saw a comment just yesterday [1] that said "Since the official
specification is not freely available, reverse engineering or
referencing Apple's publicly documented approach (Apple HDR
<https://developer.apple.com/documentation/appkit/applying-apple-hdr-effect-to-your-photos>)
may be necessary." [2]
