There was an official liaison discussion. The GitHub discussion is the result of that. Although, I don't see it in the public mailing list archive. Out of an abundance of caution, I'll be careful what I say about it here. (It is probably fine but no reason to risk it.) IIRC the last update of the liaising was some questions we had. I'm not sure we heard back on those. It was a while ago so we can rekindle that flame.
