Re: Request for feedback on EPUB/A

Alicia,

some more comments:

1. The document does a great job in taking into account both the ISO version of EPUB 3.01 as well as EPUB 3.3. This ensures that EPUB/A is in line with the latest developments around EPUB 3, and does not only refer to the (slightly outdated) ISO version. However, I was missing the same approach in the section on Accessibility (i.e., section 10). I think it would be good to refer to the W3C EPUB Accessibility 1.1 document (https://www.w3.org/TR/epub-a11y-11/), and compare it to the relevant ISO document the same way as it is done elsewhere.

2. The EPUB Accessibility document also talks about conformance levels (§3.5.2). Do we want to require a specific level of accessibility in EPUB/A? Do we want to define specific conformance levels? Do we want to require the usage of the dcterms:conformsTo property to express the conformance level (even if EPUB/A does not add its own levels)?

I hope these are helpful,

Sincerely,

Ivan

The goal of EPUB/a is to provide a content conformance and packaging standard for long-term preservation of ebook content. Several of us from the W3C Publishing activity have participated in the development of this draft.
