Apologies. I misread the spec reference Janina mentioned. This is indeed documenting the existing viewport method for controlling user zoom. I misread the request below and thought this was referencing a new CSS *property*. > On Sep 10, 2014, at 12:28 PM, James Craig <jcraig@apple.com> wrote: > > It's probably worth having PF or UAAG raise this as a potential accessibility issue. The CSS "user-zoom" property does not appear to be implemented yet and I do not see a bug for it on WebKit.org, but there are similar UI zoom control features implemented as meta viewport. Arguably a CSS variant is more accessible than viewport because a user can override it with a user style sheet, but the accessibility concern should be noted and accounted for in the CSS spec. > > >> On Sep 10, 2014, at 11:29 AM, Janina Sajka <janina@rednote.net> wrote: >> >> Hi, Cynthia, James, David: >> >> A quick question about a CSS spec long in draft status ... >> >> In our continuing W3C spec reviews, PF discussion raised the question about whether a particular CSS feature was being implementedin browsers. >> >> The draft specification is Device Adaptation: >> http://www.w3.org/TR/css-device-adapt/ >> >> The feature we're curious about is called "fixed zoom." >> >> Our telecon discussion about this is minuted at: >> http://www.w3.org/2014/08/20-pf-public-minutes.html#item09 >> >> Again, we're interested whether or not "fixed zoom" is actually being >> implemented in shipping products. >> >> Any info you can provide would be very helpful. >> >> TIA >> >> Janina >> >> >> -- >> >> Janina Sajka, Phone: +1.443.300.2200 >> sip:janina@asterisk.rednote.net >> Email: janina@rednote.net >> >> Linux Foundation Fellow >> Executive Chair, Accessibility Workgroup: http://a11y.org >> >> The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) >> Chair, Protocols & Formats http://www.w3.org/wai/pf >> Indie UI http://www.w3.org/WAI/IndieUI/ >> > > -- > Indifference towards people and > the reality in which they live > is actually the one and only > cardinal sin in design. > — Dieter Rams > -- Indifference towards people and the reality in which they live is actually the one and only cardinal sin in design. — Dieter Rams
