The current WD for WAI-ARIA (http://www.w3.org/TR/wai-aria/) The roles that inherit from range should mention that valuenow/min/max are defined as required by the abstract super-role. The spec doesn't say what UAs should do when one or more of those required attributes are not present. The spec should say that for document conformance valuemin ≤ valuenow ≤ valuemax.
