Dear Web Payments Working Group Participants, The W3C Membership is currently reviewing a draft charter until 25 January that can benefit payments on the Web: Web Authentication Working Group Charter http://www.w3.org/2015/12/web-authentication-charter.html The Web Authentication Working Group will develop recommendation-track specifications defining an API, as well as signature and attestation formats which provide an asymmetric cryptography-based foundation for authentication of users to Web Applications. Overall goals include obviating the use of shared secrets, i.e. passwords, as authentication credentials, facilitating multi-factor authentication support as well as hardware-based key storage while respecting the Same Origin Policy. We invite W3C Members to review the charter and provide feedback by 25 January. You may wish to ensure that your Advisory Committee Representatives are aware of the review. Thank you, Ian -- Ian Jacobs <ij@w3.org> http://www.w3.org/People/Jacobs Tel: +1 718 260 9447
