@bmayd I disagree that this causes confusion or leads to unnecessary disambiguation overhead. I am using this term of art intentionally. The term purpose limitation may have a specific definition in certain jurisdictions. Under the [General Data Protection Regulation](https://uk.practicallaw.thomsonreuters.com/w-014-2751?originationContext=document&transitionType=DocumentItem&contextData=(sc.Default)&ppcid=c49e96860df54da6a3848fab9743034d) (GDPR), for example, purpose limitation is a requirement that [personal data](https://uk.practicallaw.thomsonreuters.com/8-501-8067?originationContext=document&transitionType=DocumentItem&contextData=(sc.Default)&ppcid=c49e96860df54da6a3848fab9743034d) be collected for specified, explicit, and legitimate purposes, and not be processed further in a manner incompatible with those purposes (Article 5(1)(b), GDPR).
