Re: Meeting 17 May - Agenda

Thanks, Chiheb, Andy. It sounds good to me (partially). Maybe this is
better for a generic sports vocabulary.

Your proposal is:
'Event' (competition) > 'Phase' (preliminary rounds, semifinals, final) >
'Unit Competition' (heats in rounds, the race/field event itself) , right?

I agree we should include 'Unit' Competition, but I disagree with 'phase'.
Please note that this first version is a conceptual model, it does not
include the final "tags" and "codes", but it should be easy to understand
how a competition may be structured. In my opinion 'round' is more used
than 'phase'. For instance:
- Wikipedia [1] just mentions stage and rounds, no phase.
- NBC News [2] just rounds.
- USATF rules just [3] rounds
- IAAF uses the term 'round' and 'heats' [4],
- EA only refers to 'rounds' as well [5].

So I cannot find 'phase' as a common term to say 'round'.

What do you think?

Thanks in advance.

Martin

PS. The good thing is that the model seems to represent the same concepts.
