Thanks, Chiheb, Andy. It sounds good to me (partially). Maybe this is better for a generic sports vocabulary. Your proposal is: 'Event' (competition) > 'Phase' (preliminary rounds, semifinals, final) > 'Unit Competition' (heats in rounds, the race/field event itself) , right? I agree we should include 'Unit' Competition, but I disagree with 'phase'. Please note that this first version is a conceptual model, it does not include the final "tags" and "codes", but it should be easy to understand how a competition may be structured. In my opinion 'round' is more used than 'phase'. For instance: - Wikipedia [1] just mentions stage and rounds, no phase. - NBC News [2] just rounds. - USATF rules just [3] rounds - IAAF uses the term 'round' and 'heats' [4], - EA only refers to 'rounds' as well [5]. So I cannot find 'phase' as a common term to say 'round'. What do you think? Thanks in advance. Martin PS. The good thing is that the model seems to represent the same concepts.
