Hello,
With this charter review notice, the W3C Team initiates refinement for a
draft Devices and Sensors Working Group charter:
https://w3c.github.io/charter-drafts/2026/das-wg-charter.html
The mission of the Devices and Sensors Working Group (DAS WG) is to
create secure and privacy-preserving client-side APIs that enable the
development of web applications that interact with device capabilities.
The draft new charter will move the Geolocation Sensor specification to
the "Maintenance" section as a Discontinued Draft.
https://github.com/w3c/charter-drafts/pull/731
We encourage early discussion of this draft charter in the Strategy issue:
https://github.com/w3c/strategy/issues/530
W3C Members may discuss on the member-confidential mailing list
<w3c-ac-forum@w3.org>.
Section 4.2 of the Process Document [1] describes activities during
charter refinement and the role of the Chartering Facilitator to seek
consensus among those who provide feedback about the charter.
The W3C Team estimates that this charter refinement will last until
approximately 2026-02-12.
If you should have any questions or need further information, please
feel free to contact the Chartering Facilitator, Atsushi Shimono
<atsushi@w3.org>.
