Hello, This is an advance notice that the Immersive Web Community Group is exploring the creation of a Working Group. In September 2017, the Director postponed the proposed chartering of a WebVR Working Group based on the need for further incubation and rescoping of the relevant WebVR Community Group: https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-new-work/2017Sep/0000.html Since then, the Community Group has extended its scope to account for new possibilities in the Augmented Reality space, and renamed itself into the Immersive Web Community Group, with its main specification now known as WebXR Device API: https://www.w3.org/blog/2018/01/towards-the-immersive-web/ The Community Group has now expressed its renewed interest in transitioning that work to the formal standardization process and has started discussing a charter for an Immersive Web Working Group. The work on this charter is happening in the following github repository: https://github.com/w3c/immersive-web-wg-charter with the current draft visible at https://w3c.github.io/immersive-web-wg-charter/immersive-web-wg-charter.html It will be discussed on the mailing lists of the Immersive Web Community Group: https://www.w3.org/community/immersive-web/ Members may also discuss on <w3c-ac-forum@w3.org>. We expect to submit a charter for Advisory Committee review in July, and are discussing hosting a face-to-face meeting for the would-be Working Group during TPAC 2018. If you have any questions or need further information, please contact Dominique Hazaƫl-Massieux <dom@w3.org>. This announcement follows section 5.2.2 of the W3C Process Document: https://www.w3.org/2018/Process-20180201/#WGCharterDevelopment Thank you, Xueyuan Jia, W3C Marketing & Communications
