The W3C Advisory Committee received advance notice today that the W3C team invites input on the possible charter of a Spatial Data on the Web Interest Group. Participants of the Spatial Data on the Web Working Group [1], in which we are collaborating with the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), are working on a draft charter [2] for a continuation Interest Group. This IG, when matched with the equivalent group within OGC, will be known as the Joint W3C/OGC Organization Committee, or JWOC. It will update some of the more experimental work undertaken in the existing WG as well as assist with the maintenance of completed specs. It will further expect to develop best practices in the area of statistical data on the Web. The team welcomes public comment and suggested changes in the draft's GitHub repository[3]. Members may also send general expressions of interest, support, and member-confidential comments on <w3c-ac-forum@w3.org>. If you have any questions or need further information, please contact: Phil Archer <phila@w3.org>. This advance notice is sent as we develop work in the Strategy Funnel: https://github.com/w3c/strategy/projects/2#card-2852484 and per 5.2.2 of the Process Document. https://www.w3.org/2017/Process-20170301/#WGCharterDevelopment Early input, before the formal AC review, helps us to write better charters.
